axle swap?

My F-250 is a 2WD and, Im in ND, and wont be able to go to Japan. So I may just keep the truck, cause I really love it. But I want 4x4, I know I dont need it, but I like it. I love to go mudding!

So, has anyone on here done a swap? What all do I need? Would I have to swap transmissions too, or would a transfer case bolt right up?

its not too bad of one if you can get all the parts for a good price. its usually better to find a 4x4 truck you want and sell the 2x. the tranny works. just the tailcone and output shaft have to be changed for the tcase to bolt up.

need tcase, driveshafts, axle, tcase mount, tranny parts, and theres a bunch of little crap too

I love mudding too and 4x4 will be a must for that...I love the power of the 7.3 blasting through the mud but I just wish it weighed a little less

Can I use an older axle from a full size bronco or F-150? Or does it have to be out of an F-250/F-350 with my body style?

i'd be willing to bet that an older bronco has a dana 44(too weak). and you could probably believe it or not find a ttb(dana 50 i think) from our year trucks(an f-250. 350's came with 60's) that someone has for free to give you. i bet if you look around on here you can find somone who has one. the reason is a lot of people who have f-250's do a dana 60 swap also another option for you but it is gonna cost$$$$$. good luck you may wanna post a subject for looking for one.
