OK, My Fiance works all the time and I have the time to read and post on here but I need help. So HE can do the work on the truck,, ha ha
This morning went to start truck, 01 "X" 7.3, SWFL, so it wasnt cold, while waiting for the wait to start light to go off had a clicking kinda sort fast sound, turned over slow,,, but did start and the Theft light just kept blinking, had to take daughter to school and didnt want to get stuck there, so took the Cobra.
We have the Predator installed, on the most economic one-sorry I dont know which one specifically-but the safer one w/out the guages, no codes pulled up.. Did diagnostic on EGR, I guess that was ok,,
Here are questions, what-why the weird start? Batteries? Alt or glow-plugs-relay? We just did a new Cam pos sensor a few weeks ago...
Also when checking the fuel diagnostics, Most cyclinders say 0.0% Change rotational vel, and # 8 is like 2-3%, WHAT IS THAT? What does that part of it mean? The truck does seem a little weaker than our 01 SD 7.3 engine wise, seems like it struggles more. We are going to get it into a place to check it out, but wanted the other PRO"S help first, the people here...
Only has about 63K miles on it. We do finally have the exhaust ready to put in and the gauge pods, just gotta get the cobalt blue guages- big bucks there too, but I love the color,,,
Thanks for your help,

Reason: hit enter by accident
Sounds like the batteries could be weak, but don't know why the theft light would stay on. Not sure why the strange reading on #8 cylinder either, hopefully someone will chime in...
According to the Predator scanner the volt is 13.9-14 is that a good one? It started right up several hours later when I did the scan, also sometimes it kind of stumbles on its self, like at a stop light when you just start to go it stumbles and then kicks in, changed the CPS already like I said but still does it,
What is the reading mean on the cylinders. where can I find perameters for the tests that the scanner does?
Thanks so much for all your help-----
Wow, so many possibilities. Could be an electrical problem, check the battery cables and terminals for good clean connections. I'd definitely have the batteries load tested one at a time while they are disconnected from the system. You can have proper voltage without having enough amps. Make sure that the negative battery cable is grounded well to the truck, loose grounds can cause all sorts of weird problems.Wiring harness or ECU could be giving you problems. I'd say if your having problems starting and it turns over slowly, and you have intermittent problems while it's running, I'd check out the electrical first, then once that is eliminated and you haven't found the problem, maybe start with fuel delivery issues.
had to take daughter to school and didnt want to get stuck there, so took the Cobra.
Wish I had that problem.
I agree with Max. I think you probably have one good battery carrying a bad one. All sorts of funny problems happen on these truck with low voltage. It's best to replace both batteries at the same time.
Not sure what the Predator is telling you. I bought one recently to test it's diagnostic capabilities, but haven't had time to mess with it much yet. I do know that your injector in the #8 hole is different from the rest...which may account for the variance in the scanner.
