IN THE ADVENTURES OF REMOVING ALL THE SMOG EQUIPMENT OFF MY 460 IN A 86 F250, I HAVE RAN INTO THE PROBLEM OF ABOUT 100 PLASTIC VACUM LINES TO INCLUDE THE ADVANCE LINE, CAN I PLUG THE ADVANCE LINE DIRECT INTO THE MANIFOLD PORT? CAN I REMOVE ALL THE OLD SMOG PUMP LINES OR DOES THE CARB NEED THEM? THE TRUCK IS RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
IVE RAN INTO YOU SAME PROBLEM, I YANKED EVER DAMN EMMISIONS LINE OF MY 86 F150 300 SIX, I THOUGHT IT WOULD RUN FINE WITH OUT THE MAP SENSOR, BUT I NEED THAT WITH MY ELECTRONIC ADVANCE IGNITION, THATS HOW ELECTRONIC IGNITIONS ADVANCE, I PLUGGRD IT DIRECTLY INTO THE MANIFOLD, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY THIS TO, SO YEAH IT SHOULD WORK, PLUG IT DIRECTLY TO THE MANIFOLD.
I am not familiar with your specific truck, but I would tend to think it is equipped with an electronic carb, which means it has wires and hoses galore hooked to it. If this is the case, to do the emissions strip job right and get the truck to run, you will need to purchase an aftermarket carb such as an Edelbrock or Holley.
Anyone else have any opinions?

Be careful and take it slow. Understand how each of the vacuum systems function and understand what components they control. The vacuum will typically control switch ports that either open or close some type of mechanism. For example, you can remove the EGR valve and plate from underneath your carb and replace the plate with a spacer. Remove the associated vacuum lines that control the valve.
You can run the advance (at least on my '82) directly off the manifold port, but check the timing and see what type of advance you have at idle and what type of advance curve you have in 500 rpm increments up to about 3000 rpm. If your idle advance is already above 20 because of the manifold vacuum, you're probably going to have detonation problems. If that's the case, run your vacuum line off the ported vacuum on the carb. On the Edlelbrock the ported vacuum is the small barb on the passenger side of the front of the carb.
You will also need a vacuum line to your power brake booster, to your tranny, and to your heater controls. There is also a vacuum source to your cruise control, and usually to a pot on the carbon cannister. If you remove your carbon cannister, you may have problems with maintaining the proper venting of the gas tanks causing a fuel starvation problem with your tanks half full.
