ok, finally got a day off to try and get my gauges working, been trying to work on them for a week but between rain and the air force thinking i need to work 14 hrs a day hasnt been much time. tranny and pyro wont work at all, actually the first time i took it out the pyro jumped to 3 and went back to zero, thats the only time its moved. the lights work on all the gauges, and everything is grounded to the same place so im thinking its not the ground. im not a pro but im thinking its the power wire now. just need to know how to check the wires for power, im pretty proud of myself for getting this far, not sure how to check wires with a voltmeter. help me out guys, i know ya'll can help me out, thanks.
take the black wire from your voltmeter and put it on a ground (same one your grounding to should be fine) set your meter to dc volts 0-20 range and probe the wires that are feeding power to your gauges, both befoer and after your connection point. you should get 12-14 volts or so.
i feel like a dummy, i was spliced into the wrong wire, hooked it to the right wire and my pyro came alive, still no tranny. its only about 55 out and i think i heard that the tranny is uaually about 40 degrees above the ambient temp, and my gauge only starts at 100 so hopefully it will work when its warmer, i only drove about 15 minutes. thank you for all the help though everybody, couldnt have done it without you.
tranny i would think should be near the engine temp as it is coupled directly to it and fluid cooled in same radiator. definatly should be getting over 100 degrees.
