This truck is still new to me. Only a couple of months ownership time.
Is this normal?:
Some times when I drive the truck it has immediate get up and go from a start. I mean it surprises me that acceleration was so quick and the engine rpm jumps up to 3000 so quickly that I can't shift fast enough. I don't think I was any harder into the pedal than normal. The rest of the time the acceleration is as expected, no surprises. Plenty of time to shift. I guess I notice this about once a week. I'm not trying to hot rod this thing around, just normal driving. If I try and duplicate the surge of power when starting I cant.
What might be causing this unexpected burst of power?
Thanks for the thought. A couple of days ago the fuel pump went out. No prior indication, leaking, etc. I wonder if this could be part of the original problem. I've tried paying attention to when it happens. Usually after driving about 20 miles. Started happening more often about a week ago. So, for now I'll take a wait and see attitude to find out if it wants to wake up unexpectedly.
Well, there are 21 sensors inputting information into the PCM at any given time. Minor fluxuations in practially any of them could momentarily change the fueling strategy. As long as it's running right, or slightly better than right, I wouldn't get too worried about it.
