cheap, "because i can" mod: starter button?

so anyways, i was actually thinking earlier (didn't get a headache) and i don't know what caused it, but i thought it might be nifty/cool/different to have a starter button on the '95. just a simple momentary switch/button that wa smaybe wired seperatly to the starter solenoid off of the same hot wires from the ignition (maybe seperate hot source?). all i'd have to do is turn the key to "on", don't crank it, then casually reach to the starter button. since i have a little time to fool with it, and the switch is a couple dollers, but not the electrical know-how , any ideas?

Red' , I can see where this "thinkin' thing" is gonna get ya in trouble ! A lot of commercial trucks used start buttons , the Ford Louisville had the ignition on the dash , left of the steering column and next to it was the starter button , so if ya got nothin' else to do ... Go for it !

yeah..usually when i start thinkin about things for my truck at work (plenty of time to think there), all sorts of stuff comes to me. i know its possible, just not how to actually do the tricky wiring for it it besides drilling the hole for the button and using it....

Hmm. This isn't a half-bad idea for an additional "theft-slowage" device. If you disconnect the starter wires from the harness and run separate ones to a concealed - or hidden in plain sight - starter button, a potential thief may be very, very frustrated and delayed in his attempt to hotwire your truck.

Hmm. I may have to think about this one some more...!

hmm....i like the idea about hiding it. that could work well, only downside is you'd probably have to go intot he steering colum to fool around wiht it.....i for one would NOT like to do that, unless it can be proven easy to do. maybe a little red flashing button on the dash above the cluster? its a "alarm system"....

now, any ideas on how to wire a button into the starter system?
