Ok last night I drove to the airport to pick up a friend. Got there and idled for about 10 mins. Shut the truck off but turned key forward one click and then noticed the screen on the cluster said "TBC Fault". Turned the key to off. A few minutes later I started the truck and left with no probs. No warning lights are on nor has it said it again. Any ideas what it may be?
It's an 05 F350 PSD.
Thanks!
Mike
The error message "TBC Fault" in your message center in the middle of the instrument cluster was likely indicating a fault with the trailer brake control system.
I went to the dealer and they confirmed that it is a "Trailer Brake Controller" fault. They have said that they have a "Service Message" and it will involve a new FLASH. Ok I have been flashed on my 04 and it sucked. Anybody know what this new flash does???
Funny thing is that I have not even used the trailer Brake controller. I will not be getting any kind of flash until (the flash)it has proven not to cause any other problems. Did your dealer say if the fault code means something is wrong with the controller and if used it wouldn't work or it would fail?
dealer said the controller will not mess with anything outside of it. I have not connected anything with brakes to the truck since I got it so I dont know where this fault code would have stemmed from. I wanted to find out what this new "Flash" does before I let them touch the truck.
Were you playing with or accidentally actuate the manual paddle? I know that doing so without a trailer connected will sound a tone and display "Check Trailer" on the message center display.
nope... The dealer here said that a lot of people have been getting this same message so they "Flash" and fix it that way... Seems a little fishy to me. I remember how my 04 ran preflash, i loved it. The new flashes made it run horribly. Hopefully we can do some digging and find out what the real fix for this prob is.

Guilty........... I have done this while showing my truck off but............. the fault code pops up atleast 3-4 days later (not right away) and only on start up. It only popped up those three times and never returned. I showed it off 3 times and received a fault code 3 times (3-4 days later). Thanks for saving me a trip to my dealer
