Unhappy fuel pump relay

Howdy! Hope someone can help me. I wired in a toggle switch to my fuel pump relay to shut off my fuel pumps. well, it didn't work and when I attempted to start my truck the hot wire melted all the way from the relay to the toggle switch and there was smoke at the battery cylinnoid.
It is an 85' ford with a 302 and fuel injection. now you can turn the engine over but it will not start and there is no sound from the fuel pumps.
did I just burn the relay out or something worse? anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Rich

Here's a diagram.

Look at the top center. You will see the fuel pump relay and to the left is a yellow wire with a fusible link that says "hot all the time". This fusible link is probably burnt out. You should be able to find it, by starting at the starter solenoid(relay) and looking at the large terminal that goes to the battery +. On this large terminal should be some smaller wires. Look at the these wire(s) carefully and you should see some colored rubber things in the wire. These are fusible links, and one or more may be burnt out. There are several over there in that area.
