okay, a couple of questions here. while i was flipping through a couple of truck magazines, i saw some custom instrument panel kits that changed the color of the instrument panel to a white one. There were also kits available to change the lighting of the numbers too. I thought it would be cool to change the one on my Ford too and change the lighting to a dark, pronounced blue like the new Jetta's. (i have one and love the cockpit look) Does anyone know of such a kit or if its possible to do it? All i see are kits for Ford rangers, Chebies, and GMC's, but no early F150 kits.
Also, you know that light that hovers above you in the cab? I really hate that damn cover, it outputs a yellow hue into the cabin and decreases the intensity about 40 percent. Are there any clear or diffused covers that will give me better light in the cabin?
I have a 1993 F150 300 I6 extended cab. Those of you who have one know that the instrument panel is one piece. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks again!
I've got a possible idea re: interior dome light. I was at Pep Boys the other day, killing time, and I happened to be browsing the "Help" parts section-those hard-to-find parts that come in the red packages. They have a replacement cover for about $3.99 that isn't clear, but almost is-I just haven't shelled out four bucks for it yet, so I don't know how much better it is. But I micht still give it a try, that overhead light is kinda dim...
I hate the yellow cover! When I use the light I take it off cause it's 100x brighter without it. I know the newer F150's have a clear cover, maybe you could install one of those lights in place of the stock one. I know 97 an up has clear lights. Only downside would be cost of getting one from Ford.
Hey katt....that was a very good idea...that might be something i might do for a more advanced interior custom design.
but... dougnickels had a more reasonable idea. doug...can you remember what the part was called? or what i might ask someone? Thats a really good idea u had.
Finally got the part, can't see a number anywhere though. The part is bubble-wrapped and is clearly visible as a Ford dome light cover. Also it's marked as such. What a difference! It makes the interior much brighter. Worth the $4 to upgrade from my smudged off-white factory model. Again, I got it at Pep Boys, but if you don't have one in your neck of the woods, any parts store should have that "Help!" section. Good luck.
