I look in summit or jegs and they sell alot of ignition components, i noticed crane and msd sell some aftermarket coils for the Ford TFI igniton,
im thinking of getting me a crane or msd coil, being these produce a higher voltage than the stock coil, will i see an increase in horsepower or what? also someone told me that if i was to put in one of these coils, i constantly have to replace spark plugs, is this true?
A coil is just one part of improving Hp . With the higher output of the aftermarket coils , its ok to increase the plug gap and I think the individual manufacturers will give you the specs for gapping . I think as long as you have a gap suitable for the spark being produced , changing plugs , if they are good quality , shouldnt have to be any more frequent than usual . Improving the air flow and exhaust will free up a little more Hp . There is no end to the performance upgrades ...as long as your check book can keep up .
