Looking into rear disc brake conversion on my 76. Currie enterprises has brackets for 94-98 rear cobra brakes (calipers have built in parking brake). I have a spare set for my race car sitting on my bench so I might as well. I can have someone locally redrill the lugs to 5-5.5 and have the center clearanced for the axle hub. My new body 04 has what appears to be a brake very similar to my cobra brakes and it hauls the truck down quite quickly. The only consideration I will have is the master cylinder and a proportioning valve (sp). I will let everyone know what I come up with.
Just thought I would let everyone know that is looking for rear disc brakes and cannot find anything reasonable.
I will take lots of pictures and have lots of measurements as well for everything.
looking forward to seeing your final product. i am interested in putting disks on the rear of my 78 and i have studied some of the ways that people have already came up with. good luck, Eddie II
I adapted exploder brakes to my 78 9". They are setup for a torino style end (3.56"x2.00"), but some machining fixed it to go on the big bearing end (3.50"x2.375").
