What size engine?
Your engine, registers a 353.9479, by my Britannica Encyclopedia.
My 4.9 equals 299.02495.
My buddy's 302 equals 4.9528L!
The equation goes as follows: If you would like to convert cubic inches, into liters, then multiply the amount of inches, by .0164
If you would like to convert liters into cubic inches, then multiply how ever many liters, by 61.0255
Hope this helps, you'll start to doubt Ford's engine measurements, when you check all engine sizes, some just don't match up!

Now Mustang GTs have a 4.6 I think... isn't it the newer modular engine they use in the trucks as well, or is there still the 5.0L (4.9L) 302ci around? (I don't think there is..)Chuck
A 302 has 301.5 CID, which translates into 4942.2 (ford's figures, not mine) cc displ. SO, it actually should be rounded down and called a 4.9 Liter. Also, the "351" is not a 351. It measures 5765.9 cc displ., so calling it a 5.8 is correct, but in SAE it measures 351.9 CID, which should be rounded up to 352.
So, we must ask ourselves "why?" I am guessing the answer is: to avoid confusion. calling the 302 a 4.9 would confuse it with the 300 I-6 (300.1 CID, 4917.5 cc FYI)-and it also makes it sound a little bigger. I am sure that this was the same reason the "351" is called a 351- to avoid confusing it with the 352 FE.
I am not sure, but I think Ford did a similar thing with the FT series of engines (i.e. 331, 361, 391) to avoid confusion with the 330, 360, 390 FE's
so, there you have it- my little slice of humble pie. I have still never heard of Ford "oficially" calling the 302 anything but a 5.0, but I won't argue with anyone who says they did (again).

1990 F-150 5.8L- I guess I have to call it a 352 now :-)
