99 Expy Grinding/ Slipping
When underload my front makes a strange vibration. Sounds more like the front right passenger side. Ford thought it was the hub assembly, it wasn't. ($250.00 lesson) It feels almost like the front right tire slips. Also a clicking or thumping noise when slowing or breaking, like the pavement has cracks feeling.
*Not my CV Joint Either. Replaced it. ($79.00)
** When truck was up on lift in AWDR mode, front right tire hesitated to spin freely. With gas it spun at different speeds then left front and not nearly as fast. In 4H or 4L same response.
** NEW Info **
I noticed sound goes away when you put truck in 4H. When switching car back to A4WD, sound goes away, but car drives differently, almost as if still in 4H until you stop and either Park or shut engine off, then noise returns?
Why don't you pull the front driveshaft and drive it around to see if there is any changes.
Did the dealer still make you pay for a repair that wasn't successful?????? There should be no such thing as a "lesson" UNLESS you specifically asked them to replace a part that wasn't the problem.
I Bought Two New Tires To Match The Other Two New Ones. Problem Gone.
On a Straight Flat Even Pavement, Mark the top of each tire's sidewall with chalk or marker. Stick your head out the door, drive forward approx 40 inches or 1 revelution on your front left tire. Park, get out and look at each tire. If there is a difference in the markings meaning they're all not pointing in the original upright position. (Greater then one inch) your problem might be in the tires.
Solution:
Rotate your tires on one side only! Then check for noise and repeat test.
If noise is still present check markings again. Then rotate Rear Right with rear left, and then again check for noise/ problem.
If all tires are very off get a matching set/ new tires, same brand same size same tread. Worked for me and save $1400.00
Let me know.
