It is hard, I found useing a pair of chanel-locks to work the best, if the ring gear is still bolted up. It is easier without it in the way. After getting it in a-little, I used a hamer and tapped it lightly into place. also you can't have the shaft that holds the "spider gears" inplace it wont go on. I found pationce to be the best way! You should have the axle shafts part way in (not sticking out of the side gears). You can use a brass hammer or punch, and line it up and knock it into place. There is no spring compressor or specific method of installing it. Just ...get it in there...
