I looked in the search section with not much luck. I have an 04 screw, and have had the rotors warp twice now. It first occurred at 2,700 miles, took it to the dealer (who said that they were aware of the problem) 3/4" warp on driver .54" on passenger. I have less than 7,000 miles now and can feel they are warped again. I drive this like it is my baby (it is, first new truck since '89) I live in a hilly area (not mountains) and always try to brake easy and early. Anybody else having these problems? I thought about going to some slotted and drilled rotors, but feel that I shouldnt have to put out that much money when the truck is only 4 months old. I bought the '04 at the end of '04, its the xlt with the 5.4 and auto trans. Stock except for a k&n filter. Any help?
Hey Doug: Wellcome to fte. I have a 04 FX4 screw. 13000+ miles. I have noticed that the front rotors are groving a bit, but no vibe. If they make it past the warranty, I will replace them with the slotted rotors and some no dust pads. I wonder if the perportioning valve can be adjusted or replaced with one thats puts more pressure to the rears?????
Steve
Not sure if there is an actual TSB on the new rotors but the part number on the new hardened rotors is 5L3Z 1102 AA. Just tell the dealer you have warped rotors and they should get you the new rotors. I had mine replaced due to warping too. These rotors cost around $700 for both so better get them replaced while still in warranty. I matched the new rotors up with a set of ceramic pads and so far they are wearing well. very little dust too.
There is a tsb on brake vibration. Ford recommends replacing the front rotors. Tsb # 05-6-21. insynco has the correct part number for 4x2 trucks. the part number for 4x4 is 5L3Z-1125-AA
