How many of you guys have a tachometer gauge in your truck? i just got my new watertemp/volts/oil pressure gauges and was wondering if i should get a tach for it.
btw. ive installed the volts and water temp gauges today but had to rush off to dinner before i could get oil pressure gauge in. does anyone know were the sending unit tube for that gauge fits into on a 390?
The tach is a personal preference, I have one in my truck, and enjoy having it.
The oil sending unit is down by the oil filter. I suggest that you not use the plastic line that comes with most gauge sets. It can become brittle and spring a leak. Should that happen it will pump all of the oil out in a hurry.
I just purchased a whole new set of 6 Classic Gauges. I like having the tach. Ive learned to drive according that , cause my old' Speedo wouldnt go above 20 MPH. I had my ol' Tach mounted up on the dash tucked into the corner on the Drivers side to hide a crack in my dash pad, but Ive sense removed it, and now the tach is with the rest of the gauges.
I don't see the need for a tach, unless you are racing or if your truck runs SO smooth that you can't tell if the engine is running you can't tell when to shift...pffft, like that's ever gonna happen with one of these old things.....or will it? hmmmm.
