Is the rev limiter adjustable on the 7.3 I/P?? If so how do you do it?
I was told my I/P could be from a bus and that may be why my truck stops pulling at 2200 rpm.I want to know if the rev. limiter adjusts. Thanks,Tim
hmmmm... I would think the 6.9 or 7.3 all turn the same rpm. Controlled internally with the use of fly weights, ramps and spacers. Find an injection shop to help you out on the adjusting.
simply turning the Injector pump up or down affect this also you can change the springs in it to shoot the motor up to 4500rpms. Talk with With you local Ip shop

Yikes!!! is 4500 Rpm even safe in these engines? If so I have a rebuilt 7.3 and a old 6.9 that could use that treatment.
hey 86lx, you also might want to make sure the throttle is being opened all the way when you floor board the pedal. With the engine off, have someone work the pedal and you go out under the hood and see if the throttle will move some more to open. A bad fuel filter will do this too. That stuff about being a bus pump dont make any sense to me. MALCOLM, splain that one to me, will ya.
It is still possible that some were custom limited though, but I have to guess that they are geared to go slow as well, it the had the gearing our trucks do they wouldn't move without burning trannies constantly.
