I just purchased my F350 from Jeff @ Van Bortel on Thursday. I truck is just incredible, but pales compared to the great visit I had with Jeff. I've never met a person that so smoothly worked out details of the sale; even things that were not necessarily his responsiblily. He picked me up at the airport even though my flight was delayed; drove me around the area and showing me some sites in his cool, black Lincoln; then to breakfast at a quaint little restaurant that (believe it or not) makes the most awesome OATMEAL (you have to check this place out)! After that, off to the dealership. As we pulled in, Jeff pointed to this slick light misty-green Jag that was in process of being sold. After my tongue went back in my mouth, he pointed next to the Jag said "And there is your truck!" All gleaming, polished, and looking bad was my Dark Stone F350 XLT CC 8' PSD ready to haul. We went inside to do the sale only to find my insurance company didn't come through with some docs they promised. No sweat. Jeff cordially talked to them and they FAX'd them right in. While he was doing that, I was drooling over an '05 Mustang GT that was having a supercharger installed. When everything was ready, Jeff explained all the tons of paperwork quickly, but detailed enough to understand. After, I explained to Jeff that I was not only a newby to PSD, but also the 4WD. He not only told me how they operate, he also explained the differences that I grown so accustomed to with a 2WD/ gasser vs PSD/4x4 and demonstrated them on a ride around the corner to the inventory lot. After the insurance company sent the info, the transaction maybe took a half-hour at most. I left there with a full tank of diesel on my way to NC, averaging 16mpg on a new engine over all them mountains.
If anyone ever has the opportunity to purchase a new Ford, may I suggest purchasing from Jeff Clark at Van Bortel Ford; you'll not only get the best deal, you'll know you're buying from someone that really enjoys what he's doing: Making loyal, repeat customers by simply being himself.
Congratulations on the new truck. I also bought an 05 F350 PSD DRW from Jeff recently and had a similar great experience including the 700+ mile trip home to NC at 16 mpg.
