i have a '93 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 in it. when i bought the truck 15,000 miles ago it supposedly had a new clutch in it. but ever since i've had it, it's done this weird thing when i push the clutch in, it feels like it's still grabbing a little bit and wants to drive itself. and if i put it in neutral, and let off of the clutch, and then push it back in, it's a pain in the *** to put back into gear, and i mean any gear. it doesn't leak any fluid, and i've tried bleeding it a few times, i even took it to a mechanic to have him bleed it, he said that he didn't see any bubbles come out of the bleeder. but i know that doesn't mean there still can't be air in there. does anyone know what the problem could be? air in line, bad master cylinder, etc.? any help would greatly be appreciated
I recently replaced the master clutch cylinder in my 1988 Ranger. I could not get the air out of the system. Even though there was no air when I bleed the system. I bleed it for 2 1/2 hours.
An older mechanic told be to try the method below. I didn't think it would work but it did.
Make sure there is fluid in the reservoir Raise the front end as high as you can get it. Remove the rubber pad from the clutch. Press the clutch in about 2/3 of the way. Slide your foot off the peddle so the clutch peddle can flies back. Do this for about 30 minutes.
