Hello all. I was going to shim my fuel pressure regulator today, so I took off the plastic housing cover for the first time (only had the truck for about 3 weeks). When I started the engine, I noticed diesel dripping out of a fitting that is just rearward of the 3/4" nut that you remove to shim the fuel pressure regulator.
The offending part has a single wire (red with yellow stripe) with a rubber boot connected to one end, making me think it is a sending unit of some kind. The other end threads into the body, and is about 1/4" or 5/16" diameter. It has "1296" stamped into it.
Is this a fuel pressure sending unit? I assume I can get a replacement at an auto parts store, if I just know what to ask for.
I guess I won't be doing anything to increase my fuel pressure until I get the leak fixed.
Nevermind. I found it. Had to go to the dealer and have a mech look at it to identify the part. For anyone who cares, it's the Fuel Filter Restricted sensor, Ford part #E8TZ-9S283-A.
