Backfire!
I have a 1989 Ford F-150 Inline 6 Two wheel drive. The inside of my tailpipe is pure black. A freind of mine that has been building motors for 3 years now says that it is a sign of the motor running too rich in fuel. Since my truck in fuel injected I was wondering how I could reduce the pressure of the fuel going into the engine. Can I just replace the O2 sensor and take care of the problem or am I looking at more money?

step 1, pull codes. otherwise, it may be an O2 sensor or possibly the fuel pressure regulator. I recently had a problem with it running rich, and when I replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator, it was no problem. 40 dollar repair right there, very simple to replace.
