"I had planned on winning it and writing an article on "How I won a crate motor and gave it to a buddy in Kingsport, Tn."

Well I got dibs on Bill's 3000 GHP heads then. And No, the "G" is not a typo.

Seriously though, this is a great raffle prize for a buck a ticket raffle. There couldn't be a better engine for an Effie. A Windsor is still a girle motor. But it's kinda like one of those weight lifter chicks that's been taking those roids. You wanna smart off, but you know you'll get a whippin in front of your friends.

Thanks for your support Fenders! I hope a FTE member wins, I would love to read the threads on that one. Then the feature write up on the install and the person with Ford Racing, wow there are some interesting times coming.

Don't know, but a neighbor told me when I brought Earl home that it was a crate - so I have a Ford motor in a crate.

Is that 5.8 crate motor bigger physically that a 302? The reason I ask: At the nats I was looking under the hood of a 56 that had a 302, and she said, ahhh, isn't that itty-bitty motor cute.

A 5.8 351 is just a wee bit taller and wider than a 302. And they're damn near as cute as a 302.

A 5.8/351 has a 1 inch higher deck height then a 302 (c/l crank to head mounting surface) You do the math on the resulting width.

If it is a 302 it is a 'girly' motor even it is blown and has 700hp. There is no question ever. Its is like a bra size below a certain number it is just a little girl. Not to be confused with a big girl.....Purple did I get it right.

Yes! Shares way too many parts with a 302. You can slap a 351W in where a 302 used to reside in a day. JetJock got it right.

Power output is not the issue. Supercharged, stroked, nitrous equipped 302 that runs a 7 second quarter. Purple's comment would be.........

Fairly snappy.... for a girlie motor.

I couldn't have said it better, Bill. Same with you DeWalt.

Now the 351 Cleveland on the other hand. Thats a "macho" motor!

Oh, did I mention that I had one of those in my Mustang?

If a 302 is a girlie motor and the 351 a macho, how about the 390?
