Going against the grain for a line or two. I had a 75 Scout for about a month. Turns out International did not primer any metal before paint. Hence the reason every original Scout is rusted. Now, as for the scrap metal, we don't really have much for scrap. We use alot of specialty metals like 304, 308, 309, 310, 316 stainless. Alot of High Yield Alloys and stuff. I can look around and see what we've got. Let me know what your looking for and I'll find it. I work for a company called Oceaneering International. We do submarine and underwater welding repairs. Enough about that though. Drop me a line.
Oh yeah - i forgot to add that i have a bit of scrap metal around... mostly 12-14ga, 2x2 or 2x3 square tubing. practice pieces are yours for the asking.
Hehe, I don't drink too much, a 6 pack will last me a week That welding shop I mentioned? Turns out its Arcet, used to be Norfolk Welding Supply. Bottle came in yesterday, exchanged it for a filled, and I'm only out $100 for my bottle Wrong regulator though Never ending. . .
I tried the cup brush, it works good enough for me. Took a small test section down to as much metal as possible, then coated it with rust converter, toped with primer, looks fine to me Trucks not naked enough to really get to derusting, drive trains gotta come out. 2 or more people would be able to knock it out quick, but it needs to stripped just a l i t t l e bit more (everything not riveted down, except the rear hangers).
Funny you mentioned that Sick, there was an old Scout in the Trading Post for sale with a custom stainless steel body. Thats sounds like an interesting job, and metal too fancy for me If you happen across some mild steel, thats perfect. Ocean engineering Int. ... I almost interveiwed them for a school project.
P.S. You guys need to set your galleries up! I want pictures
