Fuel Pressure Regulator Question

Hello All!! I finally bought a fuel pressure tester today and gave it a test run tonight. The KOEO pressure tested at 38lbs and KOER tested at 32lbs. From what I have read in the forums this is considered to be within the acceptable ranges. What I don't understand, however, is that after I shut the truck down I continued to watch the pressure reading to see how fast the leak down rate was. Well, after about a minute or so the fuel pressure actually started to climb and within 5 minutes it was sitting at 40lbs again. I let it sit for another ten minutes and the pressure remained constant at 40lbs. Is it normal for the pressure to rise after the engine is shut down? On the bright side though I am reasonably sure that the injectors are not leaking at all.

Cheers!

Mike

If the engine was hot, the rise was due to Heat Soak. Without the fuel pump running the fuel is trapped in the engine compartment. With the pump running you get a continuous flow of cooler fuel from the tank. Hope this helps.
