Turbo Installation
I wanted some info on puttin on a turbo. What mods. do i have to do to the exhaust? Are all turbos oil cooled if so how do i get oil to it? I already know about turning up the pump 2 to 3 flats. Are just about most turbos interchangable, what would be a good one for my truck?

ok all you have to do is buy a kit I don't recommend building one from the junk yard. ATS, Banks and hypermax all sell kits for these motors to put a turbo on there comes with everything you need to make it work. All turbos have oil going to them to lubercate and to cool them down. engines are diiferent turbos are different. I could sell you a turbo off a (15liter 6 cylinder) c-15 cat (highway), (Its the bigger then your monitor) or I could sell you a turbo for a cummins 3.9l bta 4 cylinder which is smaller than what you need. the kits are your best bet.

Depending on your model year and the turbo brand you may have to make some adjustments to the firewall. I only have experience putting an older style ATS kit on the 7.3 in my 91 F350 but to get the uptake and 3" exhaust pipes connected back down the flanges on the firewall had to be hammered flat. After it was in I had to take a bar and deform the firewall a little more to stop the exhaust down pipe from vibrating against the firewall under load.
