94 Mazda B4000 4x4 Ext Cab 5 spd.
Seems I now need a clutch. Can some one pleae check out Ebay Item number 2451401615 and let me know if this is a good deal? Cheaper than what I found as a kit on Advance auto parts web site and includes a slave cyl. What the is that anyway?
I'm looking at this item on Ebay, wondering if it is a good buy. The price is $195.00 plus $20.oo shipping. A brand new LuK clutch kit for Mazda B4000. Winning bidder will receive the following:
1. LuK pressure plate
2. LuK organic disc
3. Raybestos internal slave cylinder with throwout bearing
I bought one for a 93 4X4 Ranger a couple years ago. Only spent $150 for it at a small mom and pop shop locally. They even thru in the flywheel resurfacing free. And just like a brake job, you need to resurface the flywheel or you'll wear the new clutch out faster as it trys to shape itself to the grooves and it won't last.
The slave cylinder is the hydraulic portion in the bell housing that operates the clutch throwout bearing. It always a good idea to replace these while you're already in there.
The best way to test a clutch is to put the truck in 4th or 5th gear with the engine running and the e-brake on. Let the clutch out, if the engine continues to run, then the clutch is bad. If, even when you rev the engine, it stalls the engine, the clutch is still good, and does not yet need to be replaced.
I dont know about the brand but yes $200 with slave is good. I gave autozone around that price without the slave! I bought a quality slave for around $75 I think. Anyhow autozone lifetime guarantees the clutch and they have replaced mine already no questions asked. So if you plan to keep your truck awhile you have to figure the costs. Plus what actions do you have IF it is the wrong part?
