Front Suspension Noise

I have a 2002 Sport Trac 4x4 with 55,000 Km. I'm getting a "sqwaking" noise in the front end when going over a series of bumps that cause the suspension to go up and down. This is the best I can describe the noise. I had the truck to the dealer (still under warranty) and they "retorqued all front end bolts and lubed sway bar bushings. Roadtested okay" .

Well what they did made no difference. Going to take the truck in again, but I was hoping someone might know what the problem is. That way they won't just check something and send me on my way.

Any help is appreciated.

It's common for the sway bar bushings to wear out and rub making that noise. The bushings are cheap, have them replace them. You can't grease them with petroleum based grease because it reacts to rubber. But if you want to isolate the noise, disconnect the end links from the sways and see if the noise disappears. Could be the ball joints too.

I had similar problem on '96 Exp, dealer couln't find it, I later discovered it was the inner tie rods at the rack. Eventually I could replecate the noise by moving the front up and down myself, of course the extended had expired at this point. Had them replaces and everything is fine. Good luck.

I will take this info and check things out a bit myself. Then I will be better informed when I visit the dealer soon. I'll report back when the problem is fixed.
