I have a 86 F 150 5.0 EFI , I've had this truck for 3 years the a/c never worked since I had it but I started working on it last year. My bigest problem was getting the system cleaned. I did have it on the machine but that did do much good finially I took the condenser off cleaned out, change the orfice tube and it blew cold cold air, this when on for 3 days and the system held w/o any leaks until the other day thats when I notce the air wasn't as cold got home checked the connects everything good then notce the oil spots onthe fender yes busted discharge hose. So as I was looking for a new part I saw where it ask with or without the shut off value at the compressor, how could tell this? I don't know what type the compressor is (FS6, 6E171, or York ) there's no Ref #.

You should be able to tell if you have shut off valves at the compressor fairly easily. There will one at each suction and pressure fitting at the compressor and they usually have screw caps to cover them.

I was told the compressor would be square looking made by YORK , in the back it would have a fitting with thread on one side and a hex head on the other. On my truck the compressor is more rounded but it has this threaded fitting and a hex head with a black screw cap on it. So I guest this does have man shut off.

My A/C is fix, I got the new discharge hose replaced the orfice tube charged up the system and I have cold air now but still plan on taking it to a service center to have vac down to remove any moisture in the system check for leaks.
