2005 Models

I just bought a 2005 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 6.0 last week, I have been reading a ton of threads on this site. Have most of the bugs been worked out on the 2005 Models? Yesterday when I was driving the truck at low speeds, I would give it a bit of throttle and when I backed off the pedal it kept making a weird noise - it was coming from the front, not sure if it was the 4x4 driveline as it was in 2WD - or if it was the turbo un-spooling??? Any help would be appreciated, I am going to be ticked off if I have to take a brand new truck back to the dealer - I have had great luck with all of my Fords in the past, hopefully this truck will give some good miles as well.

Little more description as to the noise please.

Relax!!!! The noise you are hearing is most likely the turbo, and its normal. I have had only 1 superduty that had some issues, and it was an 04, all were taken care of by the dealer, I now have 2 05's and no problems at all. It seams like allot of the chronic complainers on here either have altered their trucks, or this is their first diesel and don't understand how these modern diesels operate. These are awsome trucks, I use mine very hard and this 6.0 diesel is my favorite. Drive it and enjoy it!!!!

Talking Turbo "farting"

I believe the noise you are hearing is when you let off the throttle, the Turbo has built up pressure and has to release it since you no longer require it. It does so by dumping it back into the exhaust. Mine does the same and it intrigued me when I first had it.

those little ricer cars that whistle whenever the driver shifts or lets off the gas . . . that's because they have an actual waste gate, rather than a return back into the exhaust.

Thanks guys, hopefully that is the noise. It almost sounds like a shudder ( hard to describe ) but it does not do it all the time. This morning it only did it twice while trying to make the noise happen. I absolutely love this truck, it replaced my Lightning which it has big shoes to fill and it is doing quite nicely. I thought about modding the diesel, but am going to keep it stock - already went down that obsession road with the Lightning ( 10K later to run 11's )

Very nice. yah, it's a shudder kind of sound and it's not always consistent, depending on what you're doing, where the motor is RPM wise and so on . . . glad you enjoy yours. I had 4 Rangers before this one. my wife is jealous of the attention the truck receives.

Just my two cents...

I went from a 2000 F350 7.3L CC 4x4 (which was a great truck) to my 2005 F350 6.0L CC FX4 and I love my new truck! Enjoy yours...

The '05 is my first diesel and aside from 2 VERY minor issues (and kinda sucky gas mileage) this truck has been perfect! Very reliable, very comfortable and very fun to drive I hung around this board most of last year and after reading many posts about the '03 and '04 6.0l engines I decided to wait for '05 to let Ford work out some bugs. Looks like it paid off.

Oh yeah and I think I've heard that noise you are talking about called "Turbo fart" but if mine does it I can't tell - maybe the stereo is up too loud!

It is amazing how nice this truck handles and feels on the road. The diesel is awesome as well, probably will never buy a gasser again. Thanks again guys for your replies - this forum is very cool.

I'll second the positive responses for the 6.0L. My 05 F350 DRW is quite, smooth and problem free. Best ride I've ever owned. Love the diesel.

Even though I really enjoy this forum .. I a lot of readers become a little paranoid about their trucks .. every sound . etc .. is an issue .. I drove an 85 F250 6.9L for a few years before I bought my 2005 250 PSD .. it's like driving a caddie .. what noise lol

close, but the excess pressure backs up thru the intake when the computer commands the VGT to back off.

Brandy new 2005 6.0 diesel

Hi
Im not new to this forum just always in lurking mode

Today I traded in my 2003 6.0 May build date for a new 2005 6.0

I feel a little crazy about doing it so soon with a 2003 it only had 22,000 miles on it.

Unlike most of the 2003 that you heard of mine ran fine, never had it back to the shop except for the mian seal leak which the dealer fixed.
That was the only problem, and good milage avg. 17 to 19 MPG driving country roads and depending on what I was hauling.

Why did I switch, I was sooo impressed with the new frame and suspension on the 2005..
The turning radius is much shorter with this new frame.
The other thing that was always on my mind was the c94 ? injectors
Heard a lot of horror stories about them and I know my old truck had them in.

Based on those two things I switched.
Lost a little money but it wasn't that bad, I really have to say Independance Ford is a good and fair dealer, course I have been buying from him for years.

I was happy with the old truck and put 100 miles on the new truck today.

I will keep the forum informed if I run into problems but I do not expect much of a problem

Take Care
Emil

Congratulations on the new truck. I felt the same about the 05 vs the 04.
