I just put a used Crane RV cam in my 360. The vacuum at idle went from 15" to around 10".
I have adjusted the idle mixture(stock carb.), 700 rpm idle, 10 deg. timing. Is this normal for this upgrade?
Thank you
Its Not Normal....By any means....Sounds like you have a Vacuum leak !! Worn Lobes will not reduce Vacuum... Unless there so flat that they dont open the Valve's (very unlikey) I run an RV cam in my Motorhome with a 440 Dodge engine..and I have around 17" of vacuum...

I don't have the cam #'s with me right now,I'll post them when I get home. The lobes looked real nice,I also installed new lifters. As for the cam being timed correctly, it only had one locating hole. It looks as if I will be looking for a leak (vacuum) I hate to have to pull that intake off again.
Thank you
I sprayed starting fluid around the base of the carb and intake while it was running with no chang in RPM . I just got done digging down to the timing chain. The timing marks are dead on.
I guess I’ll be taking the intake off and resealing it. Not going to be as nice in the truck.
The cam is:
Crane Blazer 292-2H K 80
549
16 casting #’s
c2
cwc
If someone could direct or tell me if the cam an RV.
Thank you,
That indicates a 292 degree cam. With that much duration, I'm surprised you have that much vacuum at idle. This is not what I'd call an RV cam, more like a race cam!
If you're looking for low rpm torque, I'd change it out for either the Crane 343971 or the Crane 343901. Go to www.cranecams.com and look 'em up to read more about them.
I have never heard of a Crane blazer camshaft. I also have not seen any crane part numbers like 292-2h k 80. My guess is also, as to what ever it is, the advertised duration is probaly 292 degrees and thats not even close to rv specs unless its like SAE duration.
Thank you for all the information. I thought that there might be something wrong with the cam. That's what you get for not doing your home work sooner. Well I'll be putting a different cam in today. Again, thank you.

Yeah Kurt thats just a guess..lol.. I lost the cam card when I put it in some 20 years ago... Along with the port matched Performer intake, the new 750 holley, and the Header's..
And when we moved 14 years ago back to the woods in VA, That Motorhome weighed in at 10,500lbs and the Trailer I built a Tandem axle 24' long by 7' tall inside Dim..
weighed 10,000lbs loaded..and it pulled all the Mountains from the west coast to the east coast like they werent even there!! and Stll got 10mpg on the road..
