Diablo Predator Question???

I have a Jan.20th 04 F250 thats never been flashed per my request. I want to get the Predator. So do I need to reflash or should I just reflash anyways. I think from reading on here everyone seems to not want to reflash. My truck has ran perfect since new so i'm a little reluctant.I have about 16000 miles on it.

If its running good and you are getting reasonable mileage (some with really, really bad mileage report some increases after the flash) then why mess with it, sounds like you wouldn't want anything to change.

I agree, I'm just not sure if it's a current enough flash for the Predator. Hopefully someone here with a Predator can clue me in.

I too have a Jan 20-04 CC 2wd and at my request also it has never been reflashed. I have a Bully Dog monitor and Pup that needs no reflashing and I return it to stock before servicing. They have not said anything about the diconnected monitor yet and they obviously see the 2 EGT probes and the disconnected wiring. 11K miles good luck...

I think that was one of the advantages of the Predator, it didn't care what your current flash is and if the dealer did flash your truck while you had one of the Predator programs installed it, it won't care, it will still work. The other nice feature is that they can customize/change a program and you can download it from the internet and update the tuner yourself.

Thanks for the info., I'm also a little torn over the whole warranty issue. But my curiosity over all the extra power is slowly taking over .

My 03 needed the Flash before the Predator would work. I would wait until you get the Predator, it will let you know if you need to get it flashed.

u dont need to get a flash. when u get a predator it will work. the only time u need to do any downloading for the predator is if u get a ford flash and the predator is older than the ford flash. then u just download it right into the predator off the website easy even for a dumb guy like me.......

get one, u WONT be dissapointed!!!!!!

Actually I had to get the newest flash in order for the Predator to work. I got my Predator about a month ago from Motorhaven, plugged it in and all I got from the screen was "Problem, you probably need to update this tool. PCM size not found". I called Diablo Tech line and they said my Flash was out of date. I went to Ford and got the latest flash and it worked. I am very happy with the Predator.

So I guess you just have to buy and then you will find out if you need a new flash? Diablo doesn't state anywhere how current the flash has to be.

Interesting, I haven't heard that before. If your concerned call the folks at Motorhaven or Diablo.

Some 2003 flashes work with it. There are a couple of exceptions that Diablo chooses not to work with because their were problems with them.

Dropped my truck off at Ford today. Besides having them do some normal maintenance things, they are checking the coolant system out. While it hasn't blown coolant lately (in stock mode), it was blowing a lot of coolant on a regular basis with the Predator. So, hopefully they will be able to shed some light as to if I have a problem with the truck or the tuner. Will keep you all posted.
