Which Spark Plugs?

Nearing the end of my 429 reassembly, buying the rest of the parts friday and saturday. I need to know what your experiences with the different types and brands are, and opinions on what should be the plugs I start with.

Motor is D1VE 429 with flat top pistons, mild cam and 71 timing chain. Heads are D0VE-C's with .006 milled off the deck. Intake is a performer, headers are tri-y style to dual 2.5" exhaust. 195 deg. t-stat, Carb is a 750 cfm Holley vac. secondary. Ignition is Ford Duraspark electronic from 1978 (D8VE parts) I have a choice of factory coil or blaster 2 coils, wires are factory style replacements.

So which plugs? Autolite 45's, NGK's? Opinions are welcome, I just need somewhere to start. Thanks again guys

(oh, I did a search and went through the 310 hits, no one really made any specific recomendations, hence the questions)

Different guys will tell you different stories. When I bought my 77' F250 (460cid) it had the "trick" (and expensive) Titanium NGK plugs in it. It ran like crap. I switched them out to stock Autolites and it runs great. Your ignition is very similar, if not exactly, the same as mine.

I guess what I'm saying is if you have stock ignition you should stick with stock plugs.

Hope this helps.

Jim

I run BOSCH PLATINUMS, This the first time ever running a platinum plug and I noticed a difference right away, It just seems to be smoother, Feel the hotter spark. It's hard for me to explain all I can say is after 30 years as a mechanic Its just the sound and feel. I will continue to run them from now on, unless something better comes out.

I do have pretty much the same setup as you, minus the cam, and I have a D0VE block......I have autolites too, seems to be working well, I went with an aftermarket coil.
