Ford top loader
I found a top loader for $175 with the clutch, bell housing pedal, everything. I am replacing my C6. Do you think this would be worth getting? The truck it is in only has 9800 miles. How much would a trans like this be worth? Feed back appreciated.

What year truck did this come out of, model, engine? When you say toploader. It could be many different truck transmissions, NP435, T18, T19, TOD, SROD, M5OD, or ZF. What do you want to gain with the manual trans? Overdrive or granny gear? The toploader that many refer to was a muscle car transmission. More info would be great for us to help, Fred

a toploader will bolt up to a 300I6 if u have a man tranny already in place of a T-18/19. im lookin in2 gettin one for the overdrive, or an SROD for the same. its what ever comes 1st 4 the best price.

The reason is that my C6 has gone bad. It is on a 351 W that is making about 300 horses. The transmission is on a windsor block in a 1983 F150. My truck is an '82 and I figured that if I can get everything for 175 bucks it would be a good deal. The only reason I refer to it as a top loader is that I noticed the cover on top and recognized it. I am not sure of the exact model. I heard that I would have to change something on the engine when changing to a manual transmission though. (something to do with the throwout bearing)

you would have to replace your flexplate with a flywheel. you also have to install the clutch pedal assembly. that's not a whole lot of fun, but, of course, it can be done. i'd say go for it, as long as you have the time to play with it until it works right.
