engine identification.

can anyone tell me if there is a way to determine what engine a truck has by the vin #?Im looking for a truck with a 351w in it on a salvage site and they dont list engine size.thanks guys.

thanks.I couldnt find no engine info on these sights but i finally determined that the 8th letter of the vin denotes the motor.m-diesel,h-5.8,y-4.9,g-7.5 .thanks again, Kevin.
