Hey everyone, I've got a 1990 Ford F150, red, stock, 4x4, with a 5.8L V8 351ci. I have had a few ideas for modifications, and had a few recomendations from friends, but I'd also like input from all you other Ford guys out there. If you have any ideas for modifications, such as exhaust, air intake, wheels/tires, lift kits, etc... I could do, let me know and I'll definately take them into consideration. Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me out, oh, and remember, I'm only a 15 year old sophomore in high school, so I don't have to big of a budget, I might be able to scrape in about $3000 or $4000 this summer, at most.
id say got for a good exhaust and intake. exhaust is the most constricting part of a engine so get that out of the way. remember, bigger isnt always better, you still want to create a scavenging effect. that should only pull a couple hundred. then, go for some tires. tires do all the chewin so get some reasonable ones. remeber, you can only go up in tire sizes so much before you have to regear, and that can get expensive for front and rear. with the ttb front end, try to get about as big of tire you can without lifting, because of cost, and the fact that you cant just get longer coils. dont feel bad about not being able to put 10 grand into it either, i know what its like, im only 15 too, and ive got almost the same truck. 1988 f150, 302, 4 wheel, flatbed. just have fun with it, do what you can afford and save up for what you cant.
Hey chrono4, thanx for the advice man. Yeah, I had heard to start out with the exhaust, and then intake, and make my way to the tires, wheels, lift, etc... later on when I have more money. I'll probably hold off on the lift kit and stuff until I have some more money saved up. My real problem now is deciding which brands to go with, and what setup to use. I've heard people say glasspacks and straight pipes, and then other people have said get a full flowmaster cat-back system, and so on and so forth, I know what all of those are and I have my own personal preference on brands, but I would still like some advice from other people who probably know their stuff better than me.
