Pcv?

How often should you change your PCV valve and how can you tell if is bad or not? 98 SPORT 4.0 SOHC. Thanks

I was looking at a haynes manual the other day, and it mentioned shaking it. If it rattles, it's ok, if not then replace it. I'm sure there are other ways.

It's a check valve. If you put your mouth where the hose goes, you should not be able to blow through it, but it should flow the freely if you suck on the connection.
