Thanks Much,Ron
This is what I learned about priority numbers on another website. I believe 10 is the highest priority you can get. In the Ford system lower is better. I had priority 40 on my order but I got lucky and got my truck in 8 weeks .
A dealer can not get his order made until he gets allocation for the trucks. Then when he gets allocation, his orders with the lower numbers get built first. Your dealer is looking after you. A lot of dealers put 40 or higher on their custom orders and lower numbers on their own stock so they get their trucks first. You are going to absolutely love your truck with the fabulous new V10. Now , the hard part, waiting. Good Luck and keep us informed when she gets here. Wrench
OK lets see what Ive learned.Break-in period, keep her in the low RPMs range (NO RED LINE),lots of heat-ups and cool downs for curing the block and other parts, very RPMs,off power down hills is good to get the oil up into the rings, drop the oil around 500 miles to clean out metal residue,no big loads before 1000 miles.Brakes:Around 40 mph apply them hard to heatum up, and burnish them in,a few cycles should be sufficient. How did I do .....please give me more info if I missed something.OH the 4x4 & DWD.....I just had a blond moment when I was filling out the order sheet....you know,it was on sale
I CANT WAIT..... Ron
Note, on every new truck I get I spend about an hour underneath, on my back, looking and touching. Same with the engine compartment.
I always find at least one connector, and one or two fasteners that are loose. While under there and seeing all the possibilities for poor quality control I and happy to just get that one connector to completely click into place and snug down the one or tow bolts. It has never been anything critical just simple little things that in the grand scheme of things are easy to overlook as you are hurrying to get the truck down the line.
I help a guy pull a Chevy motor back in the 70s that had all sorts of quality problems. From brand new the flywheel was missing 2 of the five bolts and other stuff like that.
Urban myth out there for years about motors with out a piston or two being delivered. Don't know if they were ever that screwed up, but it shows just the same, that a very thorough delivery inspection is always wise.
Well I retire July 15th...last day.Now wouldnt that be nice, say goodby....go pick up my new SD F-350 truck.....YEA BABY.Thanks guys for all your help.
Ron
The dealer assigns a priority number, so it really wouldn't make any sense unless you see the rest of the dealers order bank. We all have a slightly different number system to keep ourselves sane. Many dealers automatically use priority 10 for sold orders, but if you have multiple orders at 10 it doesn't mean a thing. We use 30 arbitrarily for sold units. What will happen is the system will pick according to priority number and date ordered, but...if there are matierial shortages, it'll go automatically past older orders until it finds buildable orders to place.
i ordered my truck monday 05/09. dealer gave me priority 10 then he called
ford and got it changed to 01.because my current truck is a buyback diesel.
ill post back to let you know when it gets built. priority 10 is the lowist
dealer can give you.
I had a Priority 40 but maybe in Canada, orders are different.
8 weeks from order placed until delivered on Vancouver Island and the truck arrived exactly as ordered and I have yet to find a real flaw on this truck. I am very impressed
with Ford's quality control and have to say this truck appears to be as well made as my 02 Honda Accord. My 00 SD had several paint imperfections and my 04 had a major flaw under the hood. take care, Wrench.
