ground clearance

Can anyone tell me what makes up the diffrence in ground clearance on some 4x4 models. My 4x4 7700 (2002) doesn't seem to be as high as the fx4 or the xtr models.I know they have bigger wheels and tires ,but the spacing in the wheel whells looks the same.Which tells me other things are diffrent....any ideas.I would go buy bigger tires for that look, but if they just fill up the wheel wellls ,then that's no good.

I have noticed that the trucks that came with the 16 inch wheels have more rubber than the ones with the 17 inch wheels which leads me to believe that the overall size in wheel/tire is the same. Some have cranked on their torsion bar adjustments to get more height out of the front but that also stiffens up the ride. There are some good body lift kits that will give you enough space to get 33's or maybe even 35's under the fenders. Just need to make sure you get the right back spacing on the wheels if you go with larger tires so that you clear everything when turning and flexing.
