Has anyone ever took the stock cruise from an EFI setup and made it work using a projection/carb? I am doing a 460 swap in a 1990 F350, and the truck is loaded, so I am trying to keep as much as the neat stuff as I can, just not sure how to make the cruise work, or even if its possible.
I don't see why it couldn't work. As long as the speed sensor is still there and the cruise control module works, the throttle linkage seems to be the most difficult part. The truck has cruise to begin with, right?
Yeah, its a Lariat truck and the cruise worked up until sunday when I pulled the engine and trans out...the only thing I was curious about is how it worked I guess. I am loosing the E4OD also, I didn't know if the cruise worked through the tranny or not, the speed sensor is still in the rear end.
I think that the cruise runs off of the speedometer drive out of the back of the transmission/transfer case on that year truck, so make sure that is there (you'll have to have that attached for the speedo to work too). The engine computer probably has in input from the VSS, but I think the signal is split to feed the cruise control module before getting to the engine computer.
