Wow did I ever have a bad night. I just got a very nice 93, 4x4, 4.0L 5 speed ranger and went out to see how it would do off road. After playing (not to hard) for about 15 min I got a flat. and figured it was just a flat and left it for the night when I came back (day light) I pulled the tire off and found the leaf spring broke and came out part way and hit the tire. So I looked at the other side and the leaf spring is broke there too.
Is this a common problem? Or has my truck just been beaten by the last owner?

sure doesn't sound like a re-curring problem among this model line...Welcome also!!! Sounds a bit like abuse by the previous owner..I just figured out my ranger an 03 was towing WAYYY over cap. loads in excess of at least 7,500+#'s. My rear tires were new looking, because they were new. This all lead to problems now...Just found the trailer brake wiring harness too.My leaf packs are crooked also, lookin like they are about to split apart......good luck
I have a 99 4x4 and use it as a truck but don't pull anywhere near capacity or overload it. I've broken both middle springs (3 spring pack). One has broken twice after having the middle leaf replaced.
I called around last week and found a spring place with 4 leaf sets for $250 pr. I replaced them and the ride is a bit stiffer but hopefully they'll hold up better.
