Nothing to worry about if you have updates and software installation turned off. Software installation turned off should be your normal mode of operation. Check the article for more info. You can't turn off Javascript or many sites including FTE won't work.
I'd follow the recommendation in the link. Like Torque stated, javascript is used by many websites now, but if you're surf your usual websites, then you shouldn't be worried.
I knew that would happen sooner or later. As with any OS or Browser, as it becomes more popular, the hackers are going after it. The hackers would have found that flaw before too long.
They also have a big internal push on to find problems with it. Some articles explained that the alternate character set problem was partially due to the "international" code compatibility. They got it fixed in short order. Too many sloppy coders out there.
-Always filter your input, otherwise you get that old "Garbage IN = Garbage OUT" problem.

I wonder if I screwed up at home. I thought I had turned off the automatic updates, and 2 of them came up, but they were both for Earthlink (my ISP at home), not Microsoft. I went ahead and downloaded and installed them late last night, then this morning my e-mail (again, through Earthlink), was REAL slow, taking forever to download. Could the update have been someone posing as Earthlink to hack in? Have the hackers gotten that sophisticated that they can pose as an update?
I have Earthlink service and I did not get any update notice so you might be up the proverbial creek. You may want to call Earthlink tech service. I do not download any updates that come from email notices. I always go directly to my start page or the home pages for any of my software and check for updates.
