I have an 01 F-250 with 150,000 mi. After recently nearly running out of fuel, the truck ran about 2 miles after filling the tank. It would not restart until it sat for 3-4 hours. I changed the fuel filter, checked fuel lines for trash, checked fuel pump and return lines, and have checked the pick-up screen. The truck will start and run normally for about 7-8 minutes then shuts down. It won't restart until it has sat for a couple hours
The posts about the bad CPS seem to describe the shutting down but don't mention having to wait to restart. Is this consistant with a bad CPS or does any one have any other clues?
Do you have a way to have the codes read?
And when you turn the key to "on"......can you hear the fuel pump turn on? The reason I ask......I'd imagine 7 or 8 minutes would be just about how long the engine would run if all the fuel it had was what was in the filter canister. Just a thought.
