I have a 2000 STD cab F250 that is lifted and turnin on 35" BFG muds and i am trying to quite down some of the road noise. I have been poined in the direction of the Dynamat Xtreme. Has anyone used dynamat in thier superduty with positive results? Thanks for the input. I'm just trying to make an educated buy!
I put it in my doors, floor, and 2 layers on the rear panel of my superduty cc and it made a huge difference to say the least. Got it allot cheaper online. I was kinda a pain but would do it again in a minute. Just my thought.
Ive been installing since 1974 back when you had a problem like this dynamat wasnt around we used to use 30lb left paper and contact cement, the dynamat will help your problem, but not get rid of it all together!
i used to run 32 inch BFG MT on my bronco and it had alot of road noise fron the back (the wheel wells are in the passenger compartment) so i dynamted the entire back area( floor, ceiling and sides) and put 2 layers on the wheel wells. i didnt notice a big difference for all the work and money put into it. i had talked to people that had good luck with it (thats why i tried it) but it didnt help my situation much.
I used the extreme in my 6.0 and its pricey but i think worthwhile if your gonna keep the vehicle.
Another product called brown-bead is avalable online and has the same properties. Do a google search and you'll find it. Much less $$
Do the search for brown bead and buy direct.
Even with shipping its way less then the dynamat product i bought.
Buy the thickest grade they sell .
You can compare specs with it and with dynamat extreme to convince yourself.
I think i spent about $350 for the extreme on my floor, doors, back wall and firewall and i put it in myself.
The back wall is very flexy and panels that fleax resonate the most.
I'll prolly go back and insulate the roof and hood with brownbead.
I plan on using the Dynamat xtreme. Another question for you folks that have done it is where do you figure the most road noise sneaks in (i.e. floor, doors, etc.)? I plan on ordering a bulk pack which is 36sq ft and also a door kit. I figure the bulk pack should be enough to cover the floor and back wall area. Just wondering if i have some extra where i should put it.
Be careful on the doors. I used dynomat, in a high end radiom in the past and it worked awesome. The weight of the dynomat on door hnges caused long term problems on my old car.
