Look for your vehicle cert label it should be on the drivers side door pillar or door. If it states the year of manufacture as 1977 then you have it made. Take the vehicle to the DMV, show it to them and the should change the model year to 1977. That may not be necessary as the smog station should smog it as to what the vehicle cert says and not the registration. Talk to a smog station and ask them.
