parts source

My local mechanic has advised me to only purchase parts from a Ford dealer. He considers all other parts to be second rate. He was especially concerned about plug wires and emission sensors. I've grown up getting most of my auto parts from Napa. Has anyone had problems with parts from local parts stores?

Whenever possible, I stick with Motorcraft parts. They seem to have the best build quality over comperable aftermarket equivelents. Plus they arent normally that much more than the aftermarket stuff for me. Maybe the local Ford parts dept are just nice to me .

You can buy Motorcraft or Ford parts from other sources that will cost less than your local ford dealer. For spark plug wires I only use Ford Racing, Taylor, or Motorcraft......sensors.....well I like Motorcraft stuff better, but sometimes I will go with generic branded stuff......it depends.
