Solenoids
I have a 91' ranger 2wd with a 2.3l and it has a a4ld tranny in it my problem is that my trans wont shift into O/D and since that the 3/4 shift is controlled electronically i would hope you could help i was wondering how i could conduct a Output state test on these solenoids the 3/4 shift solenoid and the at tourque converter lock-up solenoid any at all help would be needed thanks

The first thing I would do is check the codes in the computer. If it sees a serious problem with one of the sensors, it may not let it go in closed loop mode, which would may hold it out of overdrive. It may also see a problem with something like the map sensor or the throttle position sensor, in which it would refuse to let it go into overdrive.
