Turbo Seals Leaking?????

I have a light collection of oil on the silicone hoses that join the air tube from the turbo to the right intercooler inlet(both blue hoses have it). Fom what I remember, this normally indicates turbo oil seals going bad. Am I right or incorrect? '04 6.0 PSD with 12,000 on it. No mods except basic stuff. I cruise, not romp on it.

What I understand is that its from the CCV system, routing crankcase fumes and oil mist back into your intake, and normal.

I think what Mark is saying that is normal is the oil in your intake system from the crankcase ventilation. The leaks you describe are commonly reported. Many owners correct them on their own; mine is going to dealer tomorrow and one of my issues is a leak at the bottom of the hot side CAC, charge air cooler, connection. Mine also leaks where the CAC line connects to the manifold (but I have the first generation of the plastic tube and clamp; there is a TSB on that one) You shouldn't be leaking the oil from the CAC tube(s) connection(s).

If you are looking to fix it yourself you can find good information by searching this site. Once a leak has started the connection is going to have to be taken apart and cleaned first. I didn't buy a new truck to work on it; so other than routine maintenance, I will use the warranty as long as I can. My 36K will be gone very soon....

As to not ever "romping" on it. Do give it some full throttle runs, if nothing else, do it when you are getting on the interstate or freeway. You want to get some velocity (intake & exhaust systems) going to help blow out any soot that may build up.

Don't get me wrong, I do step on it once in a while. I didn't put two fire engine horns on it so I could be nice...you know?

- Will the dealer do anything about the oil collection, as far as repairs?

Yes, what Bob said My main point was that I don't think you have a problem with your turbo itself.

I inititially tightened down all of my connections and have had good seals. I'll occassionally wipe down the hoses, but there really isn't much more residue there than anywhere else on the engine - nothing an occassional low-pressure rinse doesn't correct.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'll just wipe it down. Never owned a diesel, yet I know they are notrious for oil seepage from places.
