Breaking in Gears

I just purchased an '05 CC short box 4x4. Should I lock the front hubs (in 2wd) and drive it for a few hundred miles to break in the front diff? With the hubs unlocked it would seem they are not turning, and therefore won't break in. After thinking about it a little I would imagine most people aren't breaking in the front gears until they use 4wheel drive, offroad or stuck, which isn't when I want the gears to break in (under heavy load). Opinions please.

I have alway's been told nvr to keep your vehicle locked in 4wd for long periods of time on the road. This might just be a myth and knowing the great knowledge i've gotten from these boards someone will most likely be on soon enough to set me straight.

I meant hubs locked, but in 2wd. 4wd on the road is hard on all driveline components.
