I own a 71' F100 4X4 . I recently found a Dana 70 U in a 74' F350. It is a dual rear wheel rear end. Can I use this in my truck as a single rear wheel dif? If so what will it entail to do so?

You can run single wheels on a dually axle with no problems. To change it would require removing the back plate flange and moving it to the single wheel drum width. I'd keep the stock drums as they are bigger than the single drums. 12x3" to 12x2.5". I'm running single wheels on a '74 F-350 axle in my '51 truck. Are you sure it's a 70 U, mine is a 70 B.
