I know power will be no problem as I'm pulling this with my 03 PSD. Have a 30ft goose neck trailer which I know is "over-kill", but I have borrowed it to haul a small Caterpillar tractor that weights 5 tons. Have the tractor over and just forward of the tandem axle wheels. Never pulled a rig like this before...should I be able to travel a 70 to 75 mph on interstate or would saftey be a factor and maybe back it down into the mid 60's range? Leaving at daylight in the morning...any help would be appreciated. Thanks

i would think safety.. does the trailer have brakes? i wouldn't want to have to try and stop something like that if i was going 75. your call. i say dont head out with a predetermined number like 70-75 that you will drive. take off and feel it out and what feels safe. good luck
better to arrive late than not at all...
Play it safe, stay about 5 mph under the posted limit, usually that is a good rule of thumb, but as someone stated earlier, best to pull at what is comfortable. I tow a 35 ft 5th wheel and I have found for stopping and towing 5 under is good. My trailer weighs in at 12,500 when fully loaded, just to give you a comparison on weights
One other thing to remember is always go a little slower than the traffic around you if it gets congested. That way you'll always have a huge space in front of you in case you have to throw out the anchor. That's a lot of weight to bring down to a stop and doing so is a LOT different than doing it lightly loaded. It will push you down steep hills at an alarming rate just coasting. Keep the speed down and don't be in a hurry. If you have time you could do the exhaust brake mod, what a life saver when towing heavy.
